Federal Legislation Alters BND’s Role in Student Loans
Recent federal legislation eliminated the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program, which Bank of North Dakota (BND) participated in since the program’s inception more than 40 years ago. As of July 1, 2010, BND will no longer be able to provide new Federal Stafford, PLUS or Grad PLUS loans to borrowers. However, BND will still provide its Dakota Education Alternative Loan (DEAL), which is guaranteed by Student Loans of North Dakota (SLND). Welcome!
Thank you for visiting Bank of North Dakota’s new Web site. As a progressive entity with your needs in mind, BND recently streamlined information and navigation to make your online experience with us first-rate. Take advantage of all the new features available on this site, including a helpful search tool.
As you browse, you’ll see that much of the functionality of our site has changed. However, neither BND’s longstanding mission nor its roots in Bismarck, North Dakota, as the only state-owned bank in the nation, has changed. Our mission, established by legislative action in 1919, is to promote agriculture, commerce and industry in North Dakota. In this role, the Bank acts as a funding resource in partnership with other financial institutions, economic development groups and guaranty agencies.
